Captain Jimmy Mixson is a lifelong resident of Berkeley County. Growing up in St. Stephens he attended St. Stephen High School and graduated in 1982. Captain Mixson started his Law Enforcement career in 1987. He started here at the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office as a Patrol Deputy. Over the years Captain Mixson worked in many different areas of the Sheriff’s Office including running the Civil Process Division for many years. In 2007 Captain Mixson took over the Training Division, and in 2011 Captain Mixson took over the Office of Professional Standards. In July 2015 Captain Mixson was assigned the Support Services Division. 

Captain Mixson is the President of the Berkeley County Fraternal Order of Police where he served as President for 14 years. He is also the past State President of the South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police. Captain Mixson is married to Michelle Hearn Mixson and they have two children, Alan and Taylor. Alan is a Staff Sgt. in the United States Air Force and Taylor attends Trident Technical College where she is studying Early Childhood Devolvement.
