Barry Jurs, Director

Berkeley County is the gateway to the South Carolina Lowcountry. This beautiful area is becoming a popular relocation destination, especially for businesses. Berkeley County's rich history, friendly people, year-round cultural and recreational opportunities and overall quality of life make it an especially desirable place to work and live!

Berkeley County offers plentiful opportunities for businesses. The Port of Charleston, conveniently located just minutes from Berkeley County, serves our entire state. Berkeley County's rail, interstate and deep water sites for industrial use, as well as diverse structures and plentiful building sites, have made it a prime area for business and industry.

Berkeley County's strong, pro-business environment is heavily supported by our local elected county officials, state legislative delegation and the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce. Berkeley County is also member of the Charleston Regional Development Alliance (CRDA), a tri-county economic development marketing organization encompassing Berkeley County and neighboring Charleston and Dorchester counties. The CRDA has helped establish a diverse group of businesses and industries from around the world, all of whom now proudly call the region their home.

Bottom line . . . Berkeley County offers businesses a desirable and profitable location to grow and expand. Perhaps this is why Berkeley County has emerged as one of the most competitive areas in a global marketplace.
