RUNWAY 05 TREE OBSTRUCTION REMOVAL PROJECT

 

RUNWAY 05/23 MAINTENANCE PROJECT Phase I

This project consists of pavement maintenance to Runway 05/23 including marking removal (42,206 SF), pavement marking (65,519 SF) and expansion partial joint sealing (24,625 LF). The work will be performed at night to reduce the impact on airport operations. The remaining joint sealing will be addressed in Phase II of the maintenance project later this year. Funding to be provided by the Federal Aviation Administration (90%), the State of South Carolina (5%) and Berkeley County (5%).

RUNWAY 05/23 MAINTENANCE PROJECT Phase II

This project consists of completing the remaining joint sealing (24,625 LF) started in the Runway 05/23 maintenance Project Phase I. This work will be performed at night to reduce impact on airport operations and is due to begin late 2019. Funding to be provided by the Federal Aviation Administration (90%), the State of South Carolina (5%) and Berkeley County (5%).

RUNWAY 05 AVIGATION EASEMENT ACQUISITION PROJECT

This project consists of acquisition of avigation easements for the removal of tree obstructions on properties lying beyond the end of Runway 05 at the Berkeley County Airport. The purpose is to allow for the removal of existing penetrations to the Airport’s imaginary surface at the end of Runway 05, as well as for the removal of future penetrations. Funding to be provided by the Federal Aviation Administration (90%), the State of South Carolina (5%) and Berkeley County (5%).

Status: Project start date TBD based on FAA and SCAC funding constraints

 

 

 

RUNWAY 05 TREE OBSTRUCTION REMOVAL PROJECT

This project consists of the removal of obstruction penetrations to the imaginary surface at the end of Runway 05 and allow for the full utilization of the 5,000’ runway. Funding to be provided by the Federal Aviation Administration (90%), the State of South Carolina (5%) and Berkeley County (5%).

              FAA and SCAC funding constraints
