Carolyn Mitchum Umphlett was elected in 1980 and serving her 8th term in office. She has been employed in the treasurer's office since August 1961. She is a graduate of Berkeley High School.

She is married to David Umphlett. They have three children and three grandchildren. She is a member of the Moncks Corner Methodist Church.
