Chief Deputy Sheriff

Chief Deputy Henerey has been involved in law enforcement for twenty-eight years. He is an honor graduate from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and has completed numerous courses in specialized law enforcement training including the FBI Carolina Command College, FBI Crisis Negotiations, University of North Florida, Hostage Negotiations, Homicide Investigations, Managing Police Discipline and Forensic Pathology at MUSC, Managing High Risk Crisis Situations, The Southeastern Center for Police, Profiling Sexual Homicide and Rape, Police Law and Liability, Managing High Risk Activities and Instructor School at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. He is a certified law enforcement instructor and did serve as a Special Deputy with the U. S. Marshall Service for many years. He serves as a State Constable with the Joint Enforcement Team (SLED).

He supervised the drafting and implementation of 247 nationally accepted policies by the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. The Office was awarded State Accreditation on December 06, 2001, one of 28 agencies out of 252 agencies in the State of South Carolina.

He has served as a consultant for several television shows including Unsolved Mysteries, Hard Copy and Arrest & Trial.

He is a Vietnam veteran and an active member of the Smyrna United Methodist Church where he serves as head usher and Lay Leader.

He is a charter member of the S. C. Sheriff’s Association, a member of the National Sheriff’s Association, the S. C. Law Enforcement Association and the Fraternal Order of Police.
