Additional $27.5MM Received to Fund Road Improvements

Berkeley County officials announced today that the Charleston Area Transportation Study (CHATS) committee has granted the County an additional $27.5 million in funding designated for road improvements.  The funding was awarded to viable “federal aid eligible” projects currently underway.  Berkeley County will receive the monies to help support two road widening projects which qualify for the funding: 

Dog Bite Incident

On Sunday, March 9, 2014 Berkeley County Animal Control investigated a dog bite incident on a 6 year old child at 145 Rahway Road Goose Creek, SC after being contacted by a relative of the child that was attacked.  Animal Control determined that the child entered the backyard where the two dogs were housed.  The dogs were not at large or running loose.

Storm Debris Curbside Pickup Schedule

Curbside storm debris pickup begins for Berkeley County Residents this week. Crews will be working in selected areas each week and residents are asked to properly prepare their debris prior to their arrival.

For Curbside Pickup, all yard debris must be stacked separately in (no more than) 4ft lengths. Please make sure not to mix this with other waste such as construction and demolition or household debris.

Berkeley County Courthouse Closed

Due to the forecasted snow accumulation by ice throughout most of South Carolina, Chief Justice Toal has directed Berkeley County to close court operations on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 and Wednesday, January 29, 2014 unless a further directive is issued by Chief Justice Toal. Consequently, the Berkeley County Courthouse will also be closed. Anyone with hearings scheduled for either of these days should call and re-schedule the hearing on Thursday, January 30, 2014.
