County Supervisor

William W. Peagler, III
County Supervisor and Council Chairman
Elected Date:
November 4, 2014
Term Expires:
December 31, 2018

Berkeley County Supervisor William W. “Bill” Peagler, III is a small business owner, dedicated public servant, and devoted family man with a lifelong record of creating jobs, serving Berkeley County, and promoting conservative policies.

Bill learned at a young age the importance and sacrifice of public service by watching his father serve as Berkeley County Probate Judge. He utilized those valuable experiences to serve his neighbors as Councilman and Mayor of Moncks Corner, before being elected Berkeley County Supervisor in 2014.

Bill’s career as an entrepreneur, business leader, and public servant was also molded by his education – graduating from Lord Berkeley Academy (now St. John’s Christian Academy), receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the College of Charleston, and earning his Juris Doctorate from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University.

Bill’s tenure in elected office has been used to promote conservative principles and policies. As Moncks Corner Mayor, Bill returned money to the taxpayers by consistently producing surpluses in the town’s already conservative budgets. A respected former member of the Association of South Carolina Mayors – Bill, as Mayor, successfully blocked any increase in property taxes and business fees, while increasing the number of public safety officers, advancing transportation improvements to curb traffic congestion, improving existing recreational facilities and establishing a new, regional recreation complex.

As Mayor, Bill also successfully worked to recruit new businesses in Moncks Corner and significantly increased the number of business permits in the town – leading Moncks Corner to having one of the highest employment-to-population rates in the state, with nearly 30,000 employed in the town of only 9,000 residents.

Now, as Berkeley County Supervisor, Bill is committed to putting his job-creating skills to work and growing Berkeley County’s economy.

Committed to promoting economic development, Bill is a member of the Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce.

Dedicated to preserving and enhancing the quality of life in Berkeley County for future generations, Bill served as President of the Moncks Corner Regional Recreation Corporation and as a Board Member of the Lord Berkeley Conservation Trust. A former Member of the Coastal Community Foundation - Bill has been an active member of the local Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and Moncks Corner Rotary. And, he has served as an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Moncks Corner, where he has also taught Sunday school.

With a passion to improve education and healthcare in our community, Bill has sponsored St. Johns Christian Academy, Berkeley High Athletics and Academic Booster Club and is a former member of the Roper Xavier Society.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Bill is also a member of Ducks Unlimited, the South Carolina Water Fowl, and the NRA.

Bill is married to the former Neva L. McQuown, a retired local school teacher of 33 years – 26 of which were in Berkeley County Schools. They are the proud parents of a daughter and the energetic grandparents of two grandchildren.

Born in the Old Berkeley County Hospital and raised in Berkeley County, Bill is proud to have also raised his family in Berkeley County. Bill’s goals as County Supervisor are to improve our county’s economy, education, quality of life and trust in government.
