Josh Whitley is a trial lawyer with wide and varied interests and experience. He is graduate of the College of William & Mary School of Law where he was a member of The Order of the Coif and The Order of Barristers and won national awards in advocacy. He became a trial lawyer – first with Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A., and now with Smyth Whitley, LLC – following a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Dennis W. Shedd of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Josh is widely sought after for his knowledge, love and experience in constitutional law and for his appellate expertise. He contributes or litigates on a wide-variety of appellate cases and recently obtained a significant victory in the South Carolina Supreme Court.
He is a proud alumnus of Wofford College, where he was Phi Beta Kappa and President of the Student Body. He has served on Wofford’s athletic board of directors of the Terrier Club and on the Executive Council of the National Alumni Association. Josh lectures at the University of South Carolina School of Law, and he is a member of the South Carolina Bar, and the Berkeley and Charleston County Bar Associations.
