Census 2010

Attention Berkeley County residents: In March 2010, census forms will be delivered to every resident in the United States. It is critical that you answer the 10 short questions then mail the form back in the postage-paid envelope. Filling out the form takes approximately ten minutes and cannot be done online. The U.S. Census counts each and every person who lives in the Unites States. Your participation is mandatory. It is 'required' by the U.S. Constitution and takes place every 10 years.

The 2010 Census will help communities, just like ours, receive more than $400 billion in federal funds each year. This money will help fund our hospitals, job training centers, senior centers, schools, public works projects an emergency projects. Census information even affects the number of seats our state occupies in the U.S. House of Representatives.

If you don't mail the form back, you may receive a visit from a census taker, who will ask you the questions from the form. The majority of the country will receive English–only materials. Households in areas with high concentrations of Spanish-speaking residents may receive a bilingual (English/Spanish) form. Any personal data you provide is protected under federal law.
