Tax Sale Announcement

This year, the Berkeley County Delinquent Tax Office plans to hold their Annual Delinquent Real Property and Mobile Home Tax Sale on Monday, November 7, 2011. The sale will begin at 10:00 A.M. and will end at 4:00 P.M. However, if additional days are necessary to complete the auction, an announcement will be made before the close of each business day. The Mobile Home Sale will begin approximately 30 – 45 minutes after the Land Sale ends. 

The sale will take place in the Assembly Room located in the Berkeley County Administration Building at 1003 Highway 52, Moncks Corner.

Last year, 198 people registered to bid on 1,541 parcels, but only 106 actually submitted a bid on properties. There were 615 parcels that were sold at our December 6, 2010 Land Sale.  According to Berkeley County Tax Collector Virginia R. Hamilton, “there are 1,510 parcels of land and 669 mobile homes that have not been paid and only 70 bidders who have pre-registered as of November 1, 2011.”

The absolute final deadline to pay delinquent property taxes to avoid the property being sold is 5:00 P.M. on Friday, November 4, 2011. Only cash, money order, certified checks or attorney's trust/escrow checks will be accepted for payment of taxes. The Delinquent Tax Office now accepts Credit/Debit Card Transactions, but there is a 2.40% convenience fee on these transactions.
