Meet Your County Council

Berkeley County operates under the Council/Supervisor form of government as provided in state law:

• The Berkeley County Supervisor serves as Chairman of County Council and Chief Administrative Officer for the County. The Supervisor is elected at-large every four years.
• One County Council representative is elected for each of the eight districts in Berkeley County. They each serve four-year terms.
• Every two years, the members elect a Vice-Chairman to serve in the absence of the Berkeley County Supervisor.
• Committee chairs are elected for the eight standing committees of County Council every two years.
