Mr. Schurlknight has served on Berkeley County Council since 2006.

Mr. Schurlknight was born and raised in Berkeley county. Mr. Schurlknight has been married for 26 years, to Elizabeth Johnston Schurlknight (Beth). He has one daughter, Larabeth. Mr. Schurlknight graduated from Macedonia High School and attended Limestone College, University of Nebraska at Lincoln (MIP). In his spare time, Mr. Schurlknight enjoys equine, hunting, golf, camping and working with Berkeley County 4-Hers and watching them excel.

Mr. Schurlknight has been employed by Berkeley Electric Cooperative for 32 years. His present position with the Cooperative is Office Manager for the Goose Creek district.

Mr. Schurlknight strives to move Berkeley County forward to a brighter future. Locally, he supports "upgraded infrastructure, preservation of trees, keeping taxes at minimum and planned development while protecting the county's integrity". Also he is committed to drastically reducing the County's debt, and minimizing bond issues. He has worked hard to keep the lines of communication open with his constituents and making their concerns known.
