Criminal Investigation Division
The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division is comprised of several highly dedicated Deputy's with specialized training that aids in the identification of suspect(s) involved in criminal activity, to include Crimes against Persons, Crimes against Property, and polygraph services. The Criminal Investigation Division has someone on call and available to respond to any incident 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as well as having someone in the office Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 5:00, to assist walk-ins who need to provide statements or further information regarding a case.
Crimes Against Persons includes murder, sexual assault, aggravated assault, armed robbery, child abuse/neglect, and other related offenses.
Crimes Against Property includes burglary, larceny, arson, vehicle break-ins, vehicle theft, fraud, and other related offenses.

The Underwater Recovery Team (URT) responds to incidents involving the recovery of persons, articles, vehicles or other items of evidentiary value from the water to support law enforcement objectives.
The WMD Regional Response Team responds to incidents involving natural, man-made disasters, terrorist events and other incidents involving threats to public safety and national security. WMD Team members receive specialized training in medical assistance, Incident Command, hazardous material handling and firefighting techniques.
