Emergency Medical Services Department | Advanced Cardiac Life Support

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Classes at Berkeley County Emergency Medical Services (BCEMS) are taught and tested according to American Heart Association guidelines. 90% of lecture material is presented by projection of Microsoft PowerPoint. You will be required to participate in hands-on practical demonstrations throughout the course, and successfully demonstrate competency on both a written and a practical exam. BCEMS ACLS classes are held as a two-day, 16 total class hour event, regardless of whether or not the participant has taken the course before.

We here at BCEMS believe that Basic Life Support (BLS) is a vital part of performing effective ACLS. Therefore, every ACLS course conducted at Berkeley County EMS begins with an AHA BLS course. If you are a student in the ACLS course AND you are a BLS instructor, you will still be required to take and successfully complete the BLS written and practical.
